The annual Spring Book Fair will be held next week, May 1 – 3, 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., in the Student
Activities Center. Previously enjoyed books, magazines, and other items will be on sale at unbelievable prices. Proceeds from
the sale go towards the Library’s Textbook Collection, the Friends of the Library, and Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society
scholarships.
This
year’s Fair will also include three local authors who will be on hand, Tuesday, May 1, 11:00 – 1:30 p.m. to
sell and sign copies of their books. The three authors are:
Laurie Pelayo, Schauerman Library’s
own star of the Cataloging Dept., who has written her first novel, An Old Fashioned Murder.
The book features Lydia Proctor, a mystery solving genealogist, who uncovers a 100 year old crime.
Carolyn Miller, a Hawthorne resident, who is an author, poet, novelist
(memoirs) and ghostwriter.
“We all have a story to tell, let me tell it for you,” is her calling card.
Dr. Ana Nogales, a psychological counselor, who is one of the most
respected and renown Latinas in the country. Her books include, Book of Love, Sex and
Relationships: A Guide for Latino Couples; Latina Power: Using the Seven
Strengths You Already Have to Create the Success You Deserve, and others. She has a regular column in La Opinion
newspaper and has been featured in many television and radio programs.
We hope you will join us at the Fair and that you will come by and meet these
authors. If you have any items to donate, please email me at: emartinez@elcamino.edu or call x3876.
See
you at the Fair.
