Lydia Proctor is back on the case - genealogy that is.  This time it's at the request of a Tri-Cities society founding member. When Jackie Grier asks Lydia to help solve a family dispute, Lydia takes the task on reluctantly. Patience becomes a virtue when Lydia has to appease Jackie and try to solve her family history problem the "right" way.

Murder, as she eventually learns, comes in many forms, both in the past and the present.

As always Lydia has the support of her good friends, Faye, Muriel and Julia.

Still here...
Well faire finally ended today. I stayed home and missed the exciting experience of final ring out - darn. Although I missed my faire family, I needed the sleep today. My body was just screaming for it. Now after spending an hour on the phone with my friend, I realize that every blanking weekend from now until August 18th is jam packed with stuff to do. YIKES.

So you ask when does the writing take place? I can honestly say - I have not a clue. I guess it's good I have two books ready in the wings to publish.

I sold two more on Friday and have two more waiting for pick up. Apparently I need to order some more...That makes me happy. One of the ladies on campus I sold a copy to, actually stoped me the other day and told me how much she was enjoying the story and couldn't wait for the next installment. My grammar and sentence structure may be under par, but apparently my story telling skills aren't bad!!!

I sent a copy of my book for the SBCGS raffle and about 100 post cards. I need to make another 100 for the ALA conference in DC and another 100 for a mystery writers conference. Cross your fingers that I get some interested readers.

Pictures/Promotion

On the right of this entry is a picture taken the day of my book signing and discussion at El Camino on May 1. We had a nice crowd. The two pictured were employees of the campus, one faculty and one staff. I spoke with a number of students as well. It was a lot of fun and a nice ice breaker to doing this much more often.

Now I need to get ink and print about 100 postcards for the Southern California Genealogical Jamboree in Burbank on June 9,10 and 11. I am sending a copy of my book also as a door prize. What better place to promote my genealogical mystery then at a genealology conference where 1,000 people will be.

I also need to make fliers for the ALA in Washington, D.C. and a few more for another conference back East. According to my royalty statement I've sold 50, but if you count in the ones I sold myself it's almost 100. I just need to keep getting the word out.

And for all of you who asked when the next book was coming out - I am shooting for the end of this year...

First book signing and talk
Well I am happy to report that I sold a few books and met with several people who actually asked questions about my book. There was also a panel discussion between myself and the other author Ana Nogales who has written books on Latina issues and relationships. Kind of a pot luck when you think on it, but it was a local authors event, so a pot luck is sure to be expected.

It was a nice way to get my feet wet talking with people on the subject of my book and how it came about, and people seemed genuinely interested. Soon I will have pictures on my webpage of the event. Then I'll be just like all the other famous and not so famous authors!
